Every Fourth of July comes with the usual expectations. Family. Friends. Fireworks. Good food.
This year, we spent the day out on the boat with friends and neighbors. We hopped between islands, floated in the water, watched the birds hunt along the shoreline, and wrapped up the night with fireworks from the middle of the gulf.
Somewhere during the day, it hit me.
This wasn’t a vacation.
This was just our weekend.
That’s the part people don’t fully understand until they live here.
Yes, there are beaches, boats, and unbelievable sunsets. But after a while, those things stop feeling like something you save for vacation and simply become part of everyday life.
Every time someone visits, they say the same thing.
“I can’t believe you actually live here.”
To be fair… sometimes I still can’t either.
Life isn’t perfect. We still have stormy days, grocery runs, and a never ending to do list. The difference is that around here, it’s completely normal to end the day with a boat ride, stop at an island on a whim, or catch another sunset because… why not?
I didn’t move to Southwest Florida because I wanted a different house.
I moved here because I wanted a different life.
A life with more saltwater, more time outside, more adventures with family and friends, and fewer days spent counting down to vacation.
Watching the fireworks reflect across the gulf reminded me why I chose this place.
Not because every day is perfect.
Because this lifestyle gives us more opportunities to enjoy the people we love.
And if you’re dreaming about making Southwest Florida home, I’d love to help you find more than just a house. I’d love to help you find your version of this lifestyle
